Kochi Infopark readies for second phase

Kochi:Kochi Infopark, the IT hub in this commercial capital of Kerala is gearing up for the second phase of its development, an official has said.

"We are looking at co-developers with experience in IT infrastructure development for developing IT/BPO complexes. Real estate developers and IT companies with large workforces can develop their campuses in the second phase of Infopark," said its CEO, Gigo Joseph.

The second phase of Infopark Kochi is being developed over 160 acres of land at the Kunnathunadu and Puthencuruz villages situated on the outskirts of Kochi.

Developers also have the option to construct a hotel, convention center, sports club and other recreational facilities in the additional 25 acres of non-SEZ area.

"The work on the development of the second phase of Infopark is moving at a fast pace with the contract to build the first IT building already given. The basic infrastructure facilities such as sub-station, power distribution, internal road system, water intake, treatment and storage, data& communication connectivity, land development, compound wall, guest house, common food courts would all be there," he added.

On completion, the park is expected to provide employment to up to 80,000-90,000 professionals. The Kerala government has allocated Rs.50 crores towards infrastructure development for phase II of Infopark.

Infopark has been growing fast in the last three years and is already home to over 15,000 IT professionals working in world class companies like OPI Global, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, ACS, US Technologies and IBS, to name a few.
