Traffic facelift in Kochi city incurring Rs.3 crores.

A project for Rs. 3 crore  has been designed  to upgrade the traffic system in Kochi  to international level.  This was announced by the District Collector Mr. Sheikh Pareeth.   He informed that the approval for the project would be sought in the road safety council meeting which will be held at Trivandrum.  He added that "The council had earlier agreed for the proposed skywalk project at Vyttila.  Hopefully, it would give a nod to the new project too".

The officials have decided not to seek private sponsorship for the traffic signals.  " The commercial boards usually distract commuters, so we have dropped such projects.  Only Government fund would be used for traffic upgrades."
The software for this purpose would be developed by the Keltron, said the Collector.   " More surveillance cameras would also be installed at the busy traffic junctions" added Mr. Pareeth.
