Mysore Silk Sales Counter opened at Cauvery,Kochi.

P.I. Sheik Pareeth IAS, District Collector, Ernakulam inaugurated a sales counter of Karnataka silk Industries Corporation Ltd(KSIC) at the “Cauvery” handicrafts emporium owned by Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd in Kochi.
Present on the occasion were G.Ramachandra IAS , Managing Director, Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd, B.M. Parameswara, Executive Director, Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd , Philomen Raj, Sales Manager, KSIC and Minak Mandal, Manager, Cauvery Emporium.
Elegant designer collection of Crepe de Chine sarees, Kasuti Embroidery sarees ,georgettes and plain printed sarees, Silk tops, scarves, shirts and ties are available in the sales counter. The sarees are priced between Rs. 6000 and Rs. 1,22,870. The saree worth Rs.1,22,870 has been gold- threaded and embedded with Zarovsky crystals. According to G. Ramachandra, silk fabric of KSIC are made of finest quality natural silk yarn obtained from cocoons reared in the old Mysore area of Karnataka.
Mysore Silk sarees manufactured in 1954, 1955 and 1958 were exhibited at the Kochi sales counter to show the quality and durability of Mysore Silk sarees. These were the sarees which had won prizes in the vintage saree exhibition conducted by KSIC in Bengaluru recently. Around 300 sarees sold by KSIC 50 years ago were exhibited at the exhibition.
