Due to huge demand for Aakash and Aakash 2, datawind has started a new manufacturing Unit at Kochi in Kerala. Datawind was only having manufacturing unit in Hyderabad earlier. This new plant is to meet the demand of the tablet. For the past two weeks the sale of tablet has gone up to 14 lacks. Aakash is being sold to many of the foreign countries like USA and UK, may be they are buying this out of curiosity.

Aakash, the world's cheapest tablet has been launched by India in October 2011. It is developed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Rajasthan). The Akaash Tablet Computer was launched by Kapil Sibal (Telecom and Educational Minister ) at Delhi. The brand name of Aakash tablet is UbiSlate7. It is manufactured by DataWind, based in Montreal, Canada. DataWind is the developers of wireless web access products and owned by Suneet Singh Tuli.
